Description: Finding different types of information about medications (shortages, safety, recalls, stages of approval0 and devices are not uncommon requests of health sciences librarians. The FDA is an extremely large government agency with broad regulatory authority and oversight of many products, and works closely with several other government agencies. The multiple large divisions within this agency can make searching the FDA’s website challenging. Attend this webinar to learn more about this government agency, and gain an understanding of where to find the databases of particular value to information professionals.

Need for This Course: Identified need among North Atlantic Health Sciences Libraries (NAHSL) members. Several members of NAHSL approached NAHSL Education Committee Chair about running a CE program on searching the FDA website.

The instructional methods used include Lecture, Demonstration, Slides, Gaming, and Case Study.

Participant Materials: slide handout, link to an overview of the FDA (core divisions, functions) provided to participants prior to the date of the webinar.

Facility Requirements: Participants may need to conduct a test prior to the scheduled webinar to ensure connectivity.
